Somalia pirates quickly recaptured the captain of the hijacked American ship who jumped into the waters of the Indian Ocean. Although the American ship was retaken by an unarmed 20 member America crew the pirates retreated taking Captain Philip as hostage. Economic gain seems to be the only reason for the hijack, that’s proving to be a challenge to America’s might. According to Ken Menkhaus a Somalia expert the pirates were not interested in killing the crew or in the cargo, huge ransom amounts seemed to be the sole criteria of this booming business in the world’s most dangerous stretch of international waters.
